Dear Chemical Engineering Donors and Friends, ![]() The Campaign for Georgia Tech has successfully drawn to a close, and the School of Chemical Engineering is proud to announce that it has raised a total of $30.6 million during the campaign. Without the financial support of our alumni and corporate partners, this great accomplishment could not have happened. Because of the Campaign, the School of Chemical Engineering is stronger now than ever before: we are more able to teach and to support our excellent students, better equipped to explore and to launch new programs and initiatives, and well outfitted for our move to the state-of-the-art Ford Environmental Science and Technology Building in 2002. During the campaign our endowment grew to just over $11 million dollars, which will enable the School to achieve in ways we never could. Included in the School's campaign total is support totaling more than $5.5 million for five new faculty chairs, which will generate the resources necessary to carry out research and graduate work that will be at the forefront of our wonderful discipline, over $2 million in Student Scholarship and Fellowship support, over $3 million in programmatic endowment and just under $9 million raised to help in the construction of the ES&T building. Never before were we more ready for the challenges ahead. I wish to extend my sincere thanks not only to the hundreds of alumni, friends and corporate partners who helped to achieve this goal, but also to the extremely committed and creative Development Team here at Tech. Without the efforts of Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Mr. Barrett Carson, Dean Jean Lou Chameau, Ms. Marta Garcia, Mr. Pat McKenna, the six Regional Development Officers, Ms. Kathy Fuller, Ms. Cathy Inabnit, Mr. Gary Smallwood, Mr. Phil Spessard, Ms. Ellen Urbanski, and Ms. Dorcas Wilkinson, and the Planned Giving Officers, Ms. Ann Dibble and Mr. Louis Rice, we would not have had the kind of success that we did. In addition, I want to pay a special thank you to Mr. Allen C. Merritt, ChE 67, 69, 72, Vice President of Science and Technology for GoldKist, and Mr. James F. Simmons, TEXT 66, Retired Vice President of Celanese Limited, for leading our Capital Campaign Committee with integrity and dedication. Finally, I wish to acknowledge both Ms. Kelsey Evans and Ms. Sherry Gardner for their commitment to leading ChE's development programs over the past five years. The efforts of all involved will not be forgotten. Please join me in celebrating our success, as together we make a very powerful team. Sincerely, Ronald W. Rousseau Cecil J.
