Biography

Dr. Poehlein's research interests are primarily related to heterogeneous polymerization systems such as emulsion and dispersion polymerization. Specific research projects have included the modeling the utilization of steady-state continuous stirred-tank reactors for fundamental kinetic studies; examination of the nature of the reactive species formed in the water phase when emulsion copolymerization is carried with one water-soluble monomer; determination of the effectiveness of chain transfer agents in emulsion polymerization; analysis of reaction rates in the two phases of dispersion polymerization; the use of polymeric stabilizers in emulsion polymerization; and free radical grafting reactions.
