Post-doctoral research position avaiable
Job Title: Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Employer: Georgia Institute of Technology
Location: Atlanta, GA
A highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. or equivalent in an engineering or bioscience field with
proven expertise related to tissue engineering, genetic engineering, animal cell culturing, or other
closely related areas of bioengineering or life science is being sought for a post doctoral position at
the Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. The ultimate goal
of the laboratory is to develop the critical materials and technologies needed to engineer a pancreatic
substitute that is immune acceptable and amenable to manufacturing at a medically relevant scale.
In this, special emphasis is placed on non-pancreatic cells engineered for physiologically responsive insulin secretion.
The post-doctoral associate will use techniques in molecular and cell biology, genetic engineering, microscopy
and small animal experimentation to develop and assess the efficacy of tissue substitutes.
The laboratory is part of the Georgia Tech/Emory Center for the Engineering of Living Tissues
and of the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience, which provides abundant
opportunities for interaction with world experts in cell and tissue engineering, biomaterials, biomechanics,
immunology, and clinical medicine. Strong English speaking and writing skills are absolute essentials,
as well as a track record of peer reviewed publications as first author. The candidate must be able to conduct
independent research while collaborating with others in an interdisciplinary environment.
The initial appointment will be for one year with the intention of extending this for an additional one or two years.
Qualified applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae and names, addresses, and phone numbers of three
references to:
