Our holistic admissions review process is based on recommended best practices. Note that we do not use the GRE in our admissions process.

  • B.S. degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, paper science & engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores for international students.  Minimum scores are described here: https://www.grad.gatech.edu/english-proficiency

Applications are typically due in December for admission in the fall semester. We encourage early submission, as admissions are made on a rolling basis.

Most students enter the PhD program directly from the BS.  Most MS students take the coursework non-thesis option, which does not provide funding.  If you are particularly interested in the MS thesis option, please contact Prof. Julie Champion before applying, or consider the GT-EQUAL program.

The final date to submit an application is December 12, 2025. We strongly encourage early submission, as admissions are made on a rolling basis.
