A. H. P. Skelland
Dr. Skelland's research has been in the area of transport processes, focusing on hydrodynamic and mass transfer phenomena associated with individual droplets in various forms of liquid extraction. Further studies have examined mixing and agitation, with heat or mass transfer, in single- or two-phase Newtonian and non-Newtonian systems. Non-Newtonian flow in melting solids, droplet systems, boundary layers, and thin films has been the subject of some of his other investigations. His current research is in the area of emulsion liquid membranes. He is the author of two books, Non-Newtonian Flow and Heat Transfer and Diffusional Mass Transfer, and gives the AIChE Today Series short course "Extraction: Principles of Design."
