"Battery Material Innovation"

Abstract:

Recent years have witnessed significant progress in next-generation battery chemistries; however, fundamental challenges persist in balancing energy density, cycle life, safety, and rate performance. We have developed a research portfolio that addresses these challenges through rational electrolytes, dynamic interphase engineering, and innovative electrode chemistry. We reported electrolyte design principles for high-energy Li-ion and Li-metal batteries and developed water-in-salt electrolytes, LiF SEI-forming organic electrolytes, and advanced solid-state electrolytes.   We also explored the intercalation-conversion halide-graphite cathode, enabling Si/lithium halide-graphite to achieve high energy and high safety simultaneously.
